Equipment for South Africa Redstone project successfully delivered

The Red Stone 100 MW tower type photothermal power plant project in South Africa is located in the North Cape Town Province which has abundant lighting resources. After operation, it is expected to be able to transmit approximately 480GWh of electricity to the grid every year, providing stable electricity supply to over 200000 households in South Africa.

In this project, our company has provided salt drainage tank, deaerator, feed water heater and prestart heater for SEPCO3. The equipment are ASME standard products.

Salt Drainage Tank

The salt drainage tank is used in photothermal power generation projects to store molten salt, maintain the temperature of the molten salt tank at a certain temperature, and then transport the molten salt to the molten salt system.

Deaerator

The main function of a deaerator is to remove oxygen from the feedwater and ensure the quality of the feedwater. Dissolving oxygen in water can cause corrosion of metals in contact with water. If there is gas accumulation in the heat exchanger, it will hinder the heat transfer process and reduce the heat transfer efficiency of the equipment. Therefore, any gas dissolved in water is detrimental, especially oxygen, which will directly threaten the safe operation of the equipment. The deaerator is also a hybrid heater in the water supply and heat recovery system. At the same time, the drainage of the high-pressure heater, chemical make-up water, as well as the drainage water and exhaust of qualified quality in various parts of the plant, can be collected and utilized by the deaerator to reduce steam and water losses in the power plant.

Heat Exchanger

Preheater or feed water heater (also known as high pressure heater) is an equipment that uses steam extraction of steam turbine to heat and recover boiler feed water. It can improve the thermal efficiency of power plant, save fuel, and contribute to the safe operation of the unit.
