Morocco’s NOOR concentrated solar power (CSP) complex, with a total installed capacity of 510 MW, is located in Ouarzazate, a city often dubbed the “Hollywood of North Africa.” The first phase of the project, which employs parabolic-trough technology and has an installed capacity of 160 MW, was connected to the grid and began commercial operation in November 2018.

Morocco’s NOOR concentrated solar power (CSP) complex, with a total installed capacity of 510 MW, is located in Ouarzazate, a city often dubbed the “Hollywood of North Africa.” The first phase, which employs parabolic‑trough technology and has an installed capacity of 160 MW, was connected to the grid and began commercial operation in November 2018. The NOOR II parabolic‑trough plant adds 200 MW, while NOOR III, developed using tower‑technology, will deliver 150 MW. NOOR II and NOOR III are being built concurrently and operated in a coordinated manner to maximize their combined synergies. As the world’s largest under‑construction hybrid parabolic‑trough and tower CSP project, it has attracted widespread attention since its inception.
Shandong Jirong Thermal Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. won the bid for the NOOR Phase II project and secured contracts for the deaerators, high-pressure heaters, low-pressure heaters, and pressure vessels of NOOR Phases III. All equipment was successfully inspected, accepted, and delivered in 2016, and has since been progressively installed and put into operation at the site in Morocco.
