Uzbekistan Syr Darya 1,500 MW Gas-Fired Combined-Cycle Independent Power Plant Project

On August 19, the foundation pour for Boiler No. 2 of the Syr Darya 1,500 MW gas-fired combined-cycle independent power generation project—constructed by a joint venture between Zhejiang Thermal Power and China Energy Engineering International Corporation—was completed. The milestone garnered extensive attention from local Uzbek media, which visited the construction site to report on the project’s progress; the coverage was broadcast on relevant platforms on the 21st, local time.

Valmet has signed several new pulp‑making technology orders with Nine Dragons Paper, supplying the company’s newly built pulp and paper mill in Beihai, Guangxi, with two complete chemical pulp production lines, two bleached chemi‑mechanical pulp (BCTMP) lines, a recovery boiler, and multiple denitrification systems. The project will be delivered in phases and is expected to commence operations in 2023.
